Writing on the social media site, a representative of the Cupertino based firm asked: 'How are you closing the App?'
Grehivin posted a video explaining the process he was using, opening the multitasking screen and swiping up on WhatsApp to close it.
He was greeted by the error message 'Swiping to close WhatsApp can prevent you from receiving notifications.'
To close down apps that are running in the background on most iPhones, you double-click the Home Button and then swiping up.
There is a slightly different gesture on the new iPhone X, where users swipe halfway up the screen and hold down for a second on the app they wish to close, and then swipe up.
